SUMMARY:Application of neural engineering for management of neurological disorders
DESCRIPTION:Application of neural engineering for management of neurological disorders\n\n\nInstructor: \nBrief biography \nMr. Abolhasan Yousefpour is a senior researcher at the INTC \nResearch assistance at the department of biological engineering\, case western reserve university\, USA \nHe completed his MSc in neural engineering under the supervision of Prof. Erfanian in 2019. For his master thesis\, he investigated the impact of intraspinal microstimulation on bladder control in animal models. He has published 2 peer-reviewed articles related to this topic. His works related to intraspinal microstimulation are published in the journal of Nature Scientific Report. His research interests include functional electrical stimulation (FES)\, deep brain stimulation\, photobiomodulation\, nonlinear control theory\, human-machine interface\, and biomedical signal processing. He also served as a guest reviewer of the journal of IEEE EMBS in 2020. \nDOI: \nhttps://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-021-82933-7 \nHighlights: \nAnimal models in neurological disorders (Neuropathic pain\, Parkinson\, Epilepsy\, Spinal cord injury\, …) \nFunctional electrical stimulation \nDeep brain stimulation \nExtracellular recording (Spike\, LFP) \nClosed-loop control systems \nWho can take the course? \nStudents\, researchers\, and lab PIs whose interest fall within Animal neurophysiology\, deep brain stimulation\, functional electrical stimulation\, and Extracellular recording of neural activity. Previous experience and knowledge of the technique are NOT required.

SUMMARY:Methodological aspects of human research with tES
DESCRIPTION:Methodological aspects of human research with transcranial electrical stimulation (tES)\n\n\nIn this webinar\, methodological aspects of research with transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) will be briefly covered. Research with tES has grown exponentially in recent years\, especially in the fields of systems\, cognitive and clinical neurosciences\, psychology\, and rehabilitation sciences. However\, there are variability in behavioral\, physiological\, and therapeutic responses to tES. The variability comes from both inter-individual variability and methodological flaws/discrepancy. We mention to some important methodological aspects that should be complied with in human research of tES.
